HTML in Top Title "Extra Text" box

Hi there. I have basically gotten everything I wanted from the Parabola theme, with the exception of being able to display a NewsNow logo on the presentation page.

As sidebars are not available on the presentation page, I have tried to put it in the top title extra text box, so that the logo appears above the slider. The logo is supposed to appear as it does at the top of the sidebar here, but unfortunately merely displays as the literal text that i put into the text box.

Is there a way of making html display correctly in this extra text box? If so, a pointer on what is needed would be appreciated.
