    Good day,
there is no HTML minification in the plugin.
Is HTML minification no longer required?
    Thanks!

  • Hi @irinashl,

Thank you for your interest and feedback for the Jetpack Boost plugin.

HTML minification is certainly a feature which can help to support the overall performance of a site.

With the first iteration of the Jetpack Boost plugin, we decided first to concentrate on optimizations that we believe will make the most significant impact for the performance of a site. Optimizing CSS Loading, Deferring Non-Essential JavaScript and Lazy Image Loading are the 3 first features which, when applied, should hopefully make a clear increase in the page speed score a site, unless of course the site is already pretty much optimized already.

We are working on bringing much more improvements in future releases and hopefully including features such as resources (HTML/JS/CSS) minification to improve further performances. Please stay tune ??

In the meantime if you have other ways to apply HTML minification to your site, you should certainly do.

Thank you for your feedback. Please do not hesitate to get in touch again if you have more feedback or questions.

    Best,
    David

    Thanks for the quick response!
Maybe use HTML minification W3 Total Cache?
    Thanks!

    Hi @irinashl,

Yes you can make use of the W3 Total Cache plugin HTML minification feature. If you are encountering some issue with it you might want to add the ‘boost’ string in the list of ‘Ignored comment stems’ in their settings as shown in this screenshot: https://cloudup.com/cFJ7Qz3rigk

    davidlonjonxwp,
    Thank you

@davidlonjonxwp When using the W3 Total Cache minify feature, JetPack Boost no longer works as expected because rendering blocking returns and I notice that the minify file for the site does contain the onload=”this.media=’all'” information.

@davidlonjonxwp note: I tried to add the ‘boost’ string in the list of ‘Ignored comment stems’ in their settings but it didn’t make a difference.

    Hi @wppit,

Would you mind opening a new thread for this issue? I’ve taken a quick look, and can’t see anything broken with W3 Total Cache + Jetpack Boost.

Would you mind including your site URL so that we can check it out in detail? If you’re not comfortable sharing your site URL, please email us at [email protected] so that we can take a look.
