I would use a child theme and not touch your parent theme at all. If you want to try and get elements of the original Twenty Fourteen theme that you were using, use a child theme to make those adjustments.

not to sound silly, but starting a child them, where is the wp-content/themes. I can’t even find it!

You must have found that path if you downloaded your old Twenty Fourteen theme to your computer using a FTP client or file manager.

I dont understand what you are saying? I can’t find the first step in creating a child theme…I’m in Editor, looking for wp-content theme but don’t see it.

You’ll need to work off-line on a child theme and then upload it to to your site.
