HTML sitemap not xml..help

Hi,

I am facing same problem in webmaster tool using google sitemap plugin:

“Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead”

the above error is appearing in sitemap submission.

please advice us how remove this error.

In Spanish appear the error “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. a format compatible sitemap.”

I found this Google (XML) Sitemap Generator Plugin Help :

Google Webmaster Tools reports “Sitemap is in HTML format”
That happens from time to time and is an issue in Google Webmaster Tools. Try to resubmit your sitemap and wait, normally it goes away after some time.

Someone can confirm that goes away? I have used this plugin for long time and I have never seen this error in Google Webmaster Tools…

Well i tried every solution i found and nothing happened..i switched to Yoast’s sitemap and all is ok ??

I have this problem too. How I can remove sitemap.html and keep sitemap.xml? I have created self html map in url sitemap.html

I’m currently experiencing this problem too. some very old threads suggest a blank line being inserted by a theme or plugin somewhere. When viewing the sitemap directly, the browser complains “error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document”.

It seems that it might be worth bringing back the feature to write a static sitemap file until the dynamic renderer can be made more reliable.

I had the same issue in regards to my sitemap.xml redirecting to my homepage. But after deleting the plugin, and then re-installing it, my sitemap.xml comes up.

So try that and see if it works. Be sure you don’t have any other sitemaps being generated by other plugins (i.e., Yoast SEO, All-in-One SEO, etc.)

If you run a domain with SSL, with www and without and such, make sure to choose the right one delivering the sitemap. ?? Problem solved for me.

Same issue here. I just ended up using a different plugin for now.

I have the same problem. I submit my sitemap in XML format but Google Webmastertools says it is HTML. My domain is secure with SSL and I have verified ownership of the domain with www. What should I do to solve the problem? Should I also check the property without WWW? I appreciate your help. Regards
