• Hi all,
I recently started hosting my own blog on my own server, (Windows Home Server, IIS 6.0 (I believe), PHP 5.2.6 MYSQL installed and running.)

Everything has been working fine. The blog was there, people could comment, I could log into the the admin, make changes. Worked for 3-4 weeks. last week I was fiddling around with the Polls plugin, made it work, then took it off when I could not add a poll. Blog still worked. worked most of this week. Last time I tried was Wednesday, today its getting an HTTP 500 error.

I have 3 other sites that still run, including my windows home server default site. (One of them is in PHP,) Mail server runs. No updates installed since 9-18-08. No errors in any of the error log except MRxSMB, (The redirector failed to determine the connection type)
Any thoughts? I can not access the admin page either, same error.

The complete error is shown below.

The Website cannot display the page

    Most likely causes:
    The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

    What you can try:
    Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

    More information

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

One follow up note: I can hit the site using Firefox, but not I.E. 7, I can also log into the admin page through firefox.

Can you see HTTP 500 error on all pages or on only any specific URLs like wp-comments-post.php?

I experienced problems with wp-comments-post.php when I didn’t fill e.g. email address on the comment form. wp-comments-post.php sent HTTP 500 error and IE browsers show only default “Page cannot be displayed” (friendly HTTP errors are turn on by default) but all others broswers show message “You did not enter email address correctly.”

i am going thru the same thing right now….i tried to install an FCK editor as a plugin and cannot access the site anymore…..same http 500 error comes up…. if it is a programming error how is it undone?
