HTTP 500 error when sandbox testing stripe

  • Hi this morning I kept getting the HTTP 500 error when attempting to test with Stripe. I followed all the instructions for linking to stripe using the testing API keys and adding my web hook in my stripe account. I tested my web hook from with in there and it also raised this http error.

    I then tested the paid membership plug in without a payment gateway set up and the (test) transaction went through without any hiccups.

    Can you advise me what to do as there is no info anywhere online about solving this problem?

    Check your PHP error logs. You’ll probably see errors for that 500 that give you some more info on what went wrong.

    One common issue is on hosts that don’t have the “mbyte string” PHP module installed. The Stripe library requires this. Work with your host to get that activated.
