Hi all and an early Happy New Year!

I’m absolutely new to all this and inching my way forward very very very slowly. I’ve managed to figure out everything for myself, so far, but this time I am stuck. I’ve tried searching the forum but I am only getting more confused.

I’ve read that site security is really important. I’m hosted with Bluehost and they seem to provide free basic SSL with my site? going to https: shows the little padlock in black and says it is secure. Going to the www version doesn’t show this. I tried fixing this by trying out a free SSL certificate but the www version failed to take. I deleted that free certificate to avoid confusion or conflicts.

As I said, I am new to this and properly confused. I don’t know why I have two versions of the site (http and www)

Basically my question is how do I secure both or how do I have only the one version, which would also solve my problem.

    Thanks in advance.

NOTE: Not that it really matters (but in case anybody wonders) my site is full of nonsense posts at the moment. It’s there as a placeholder just to check things are working how they should and check the aesthetics.

You’ll need to first acquire a valid SSL certificate from your hosting provider. Consult their documentation for specifics on this.

Then, you’ll need to set up WordPress following this guide: https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me on this.

It already says HTTPS. The URL is https://travelswithmybelly.com so it already is secured. Unless I am missing something? Like I said, I am totally new to all this and have been honestly proud with myself so far. I’ve managed to figure it all out but this has me stumped.

My problem is that there is a WWW version of my site that isn’t secure. I am also unable to make it so. I’m at an absolute loss.

Am I missing something fundamental and being a complete newb? Probably. Thanks again ??

    Hi @innabottle,

Based from the information you provided you have a valid SSL Certificate but it appears that it is not being enforced properly.

In an attempt to resolve this issue, I recommend that you try installing a plugin like Really Simple SSL If the issue persists, I recommend that you contact BlueHost to have SSL Certificate reinstalled.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
