    Hi,

The latest plugin update (2.76) causes the following error when accessing WordPress Admin Area.

    HTTP ERROR 500

I currently disabled the plugin until resolution and confirmed with my hosting company the issue is caused by the plugin. The issue appears only when the plugin is activated.

    Thank you

Thanks for your report. I regret the trouble you are having with the new version. If you were using an earlier version of the plugin (e.g., v2.75) you can go back to the earlier version by following these steps:

To get the previous Version, click this link to download the 2.75 Version ZIP archive:

    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/media-library-assistant.2.75.zip

Once you have the ZIP archive on your system:

    1. Login to your site’s Admin area and navigate to Plugins/Installed Plugins.
Find Media Library Assistant and deactivate it.
    2. Find Media Library Assistant and delete it. You will not lose any settings.
      Go to Plugins/Add New.
    3. Click “Upload Plugin”, to the right of the Add Plugins title.<br>”Browse…” to the location of the ZIP Archive and click on it.
    4. Click “Install Now”, to the right of “Browse…”
    5. When the install completes, click “Activate Plugin” at the bottom of the screen.

I would like very much to resolve your issue with the current version, but without additional information I am not sure how to help. The latest version was downloaded over 6,000 times today and yours is the only report I have received.

Any additional information you or your hosting company can provide would be very helpful. I would be happy to work with them if you can put us in touch. You can go to my web site for details on how to reach me:

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    Hi,

I will follow your instructions maybe the next update will work on my site.

    Thank you

Thanks for your update. The changes in the latest version are quite modest, so the next update probably won’t solve your issue. Of course, that also means the v2.76 release probably doesn’t contain anything you really need.

It occurs to me that a common cause of HTTP ERROR 500 is lack of available memory. There have been several similar topics over the years, including:

An ajax.fail error has occurred. What can I do?

MLA stopped working after installing Themeco X theme

    Error: Allowed memory size exhausted

    Admin Area Goes Blank

These topics were resolved by increasing the memory available to PHP and thus to WordPress, as described in this Codex topic:

    Editing_wp-config.php – Increasing memory

Memory problems are not plugin specific, so you may encounter the problem without MLA in the future. If you have the time and ability, reviewing and increasing your memory limits would be a good investment.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have trouble with the older MLA version or if you learn something by exploring the memory suggestions above. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.
