    Hello,

Our site has been up for over a year. I recently received an error when trying to upload images to the media app. The error only reads “HTTP error” and nothing else.

I’ve tried deactivating the latest plugin and cleared cache before trying to upload more images. That did not work.

I did try uploading a smaller image (96KB) and it actually did upload, but when I tried a larger image (496KB), it gave me the same HTTP error.

I’ve found websites that inform me of certain methods that I can try like increasing memory and adding code to the .htaccess file, but I wanted to ask here before I moved forward with any changes to the file manager.

    Thank you in advance,

    BH

    Hi There,

I have done all necessary steps, outlined in the article given, as well as contacted my hosting provider to see if they could fix the issue. Unfortunately, they could not and have insisted I get help directly from WordPress.

My issue is that I needed to increase my upload file size from 256mb to 1gb (as I give my clients their videos from my website)

However, although the upload file size HAS been increased to 1GB, I cannot upload anything above 256mb without receiving the HTTP Error.

    Please help resolve this issue.

HI, I have spent 2 whole days trying to build a website. however, when I get to uploading images, I get an http error. I am not a developer and don’t understand the instructions to get into files on my laptop to correct potential errors. I am about to give up on wordpress, please can anyone assist with a simple solution. I have made the images much smaller and have renamed them, to no avail. Thanks, Bev

@beverley2112 I have been having this issue as well. However, I only have a problem with it when I upload anything over 256mb.

When you upload an image in the WordPress Dashboard, via the Media Uploader, what is it saying your maximum upload file size is?

It should be underneath the upload box.

Also, who is your domain hosting through? I would suggest going to their customer support and informing them of your problem. Often times it’s just a simple fix regarding a maximum file size issue, that they can increase on the backend in the cPanel.

Hi, thank you so much for your response. I contact my hots and it was as you said, they needed to increase my maximum file size and I now seem to be sorted ??

I have the same problem on top of the JSON response error when trying to direct upload it to the page. Nobody has been any help, is there someone I can actually talk to or is it this forums to read through to download something that could be a virus? Note I know nothing about coding and I’m using through google chrome not the app. I’m about ready to delete everything because I’m so frustrated. Been trying everything for 2 days straight.
