“HTTP ERROR” when uploading images – cannot find a solution anywhere.

Lately, as in the last week or two, when trying to upload photo images I keep getting a ‘HTTP Error’ message, and the photos do not upload. All of the images are well under the 10mb limit. Other files types, such as pdfs or png files upload with no issues.
This is only a recent problem, as previously we were always able to upload photos.We are a small non-profit, and unfortunately do not have an IT person in house or on retainer, and my skills are still beginner level, so any step by step help guide is much appreciated! Thanks!

Here are the instructions as they are in that article.
1. Log into your cPanel dashboard.
2. Using the file manager, navigate to your WordPress site’s root directory.
3. Locate and open the .htaccess file for editing.
4. Add the following line of code at the top of the file:
5. SetEnv MAGICK_THREAD_LIMIT 1
6. Save the changes to the .htaccess file.
