  • I was added the code in .htmaccess also the code in the functions.php without success. Then I login in the cpanel, check the PHP configuration and realize that I was running PHP 4.2.

    Now is working.

    Thanks!!

This occurred as a random problem for me – on failure, I would try and try again until it would work. Today I had a file that would absolutely NOT upload without the dastardly HTTP error.

Following the advice on another thread, I switch my PHP from 5.6 to 7.0 and the problem went away immediately. Now, there’s also the notion of “Fast CGI”, and that’s what I had with 5.6, and I did not select that for 7.0, so that may be a contributor as well.

In any event, my host (Dreamhost) allows easy switching of the PHP version in the domain control panel, so it’s worth a try.

I had the same issue recently. It seems to be a theme and/or plugin incompatibility issue with the newer versions of WordPress. I had the issue while uploading through the theme’s plugins.

I uploaded the image through the media library and no problems.

@randyking: This did the trick for me too, updating PHP 5.6 -> 7.0, issue gone. Thanks a lot!

    I am hosted on Dreamhost.

Folks, this post is about WordPress 4.5

We’re on 4.7 now ?? I’m going to close this out. If you have this problem, please make your own posts.
