HTTP loopback connexion

    Hi!

    Just wondering how version 3.0.1 deal with hosts that forbid HTTP loopback connexion. For me Alternate cron is not a viable solution.

    If there is a workaround, what is it exactly? Does it require real cron job or can it work with WordPress cron jobs?

    Also, a couple of questions regarding the launch of a paying version of BackWpUp. With the free plugin:
    1) Does BackWPUp has a reliable notification system that will warn me if a backup fails?

    2) Do I have the option to perform full backup as well as database backup only? And by FULL backup I mean a complete copy of ALL the file in the root folder of the WordPress installation plus any file which I could provide a path for (like to wp-config file which is often located outside the root folder)

    3) For using with Dropbox or Amazon S3: is there a way to limit the space BackWPUp takes over there? i.e. Settings to delete older backups?

  • When http lopback connection not allowed you can start the job with a server cron from commandline or by executing a url. If your wp-cron works than now no looback connection needed for it too.

    1) If wp-cron works the you get a email on success or fail.

    2) You can set wath you would to backup. The complete instalation ore a single folder. You can add extra folders to backup that are not in the WordPress location.
    The Databse backup can also done completely or a single table.

    3) The space limit can only done by setting the value how many archives you will store on the external server.

    Are you talking about “Alternative cron” and “real cron jobs” (which can be set either from the cPanel or by command line).

    Alternative cron is not an option for me. If you’re indeed talking about real cron, what frequency (how many times a day) should the cron be triggered for BAckWPUp to work properly (given that my installation, for example, do not require many scheduled task: only cache maybe).
