  • I don’t think that will matter that much. There’s always “ideas” saying that doing X will rank you higher in Google soon… and most of them turn out to be false.

    having said that, this one has a possibility of being true. I can see that Google would think that a site is more “trustworthy” if it’s served purely over SSL. Then again it could also be a really good marketing strategy for people that sell SSL certificates… ??

    It might, but not ‘enough’ for most of us to care yet.

    Well, you have to remember that SSL does slow down page load times and this can give you a “negative” in points so to speak with Google ranking. So for me, this is a bit silly to worry about right now.

    I would say if you have no reason to have SSL on your site (checkout/cart/sensitive info) then do not get SSL just because you think it might rank you higher in Google.
