• Hii
Well since months ago CLS ( Cumulative Layout Shift ) became essential for ranking in google, it’s something really important now

The sydney theme has a very big CLS espacially in the front page, I’ve even tested the sydney demo website, CLS has to be as low as 0.1, sydney theme shows a much bigger than that in-between 0.75 until 1.0 sometimes

Can anybody provide any sort of help or tricks to make that CLS lower please ?

Also it’s very important for the sydney theme developers to start considering that very seriously actually too

    Thank you

  • @yacinemilan thank you for the question.

We don’t think that CLS is a mandatory feature to include in Sydney theme. Because it is a complex task as it is related to content.

In general, content is an aspect that we can’t measure. There are tons of possibilities Sydney users can made with it. CLS should an additional work that is specific to user’s responsibility.

Adding further, www.ads-software.com repository currently doesn’t require CLS. See @poena’s reply on my tweet.

    Hello together,
as @yacinemilan mentioned, it’s mainly on the front page with the huge Hero-Picture.
The Problem of CLS is, that there are no presaved spaces for the Hero picture and neither for the objects like the Hero-Text and the Main-Button.

I think this has a huge impact on site-scores. All other sub-pages with content are great and with a very good CLS (Only use the great header-picture on the start-page)

    Best regards and merry christmas!

@thalakus exactly, it feels like the problem is with the slider in the front page, just that, the rest is All fine
Have you find a solution around it to improve your front page CLS ?
I’m thinking about turning that slider off and just designing a new one with elementor, what do you think about that ?

Agree, CLS is the last thing left that I need to make good score, problem disapears when slider is removed. Elementor doesn’t seem to be good solution also beceause elementor isn’t great for scoring either.

    @pawelrol
So what do you think it would be a good idea to design a hero picture with a call to action button ? Cuz it’s really important for me I have to have a hero picture like the Sydney theme one, any suggestions ?

@yacinemilan If your main site is already on elementor I’d do it with elementor and check how its working (it’s like 10 minutes of work) – CLS should be improved.
I really hope aThemes team will find proper solution soon ?? Good luck! ??

Without a preloader you see it directly when the slider is used. While loading and when the slider is not there yet, you see the footer and then the footer is pushed down to show the slider.
This occurs just, when the slider is enabled. No other plugin or nothing. It’s a sydney-topic.

If the space for the slider had been “fixed”or”reservated”, the Layout-shift wouldn’t occur.
On all pages apart from the start page I get great results because there is no slider.
