    Hi Everyone,
I have 33K posts, 90,000+ rows in the posts table – over 500,000 in the postmeta table, but my database is around 400mb.

Relevanssi is about 5% through indexing and it’s table is already at 200mb!

I don’t mind the space if it works ??

Will this perform “fast” searching? Can users filter on categories, custom fields, etc… in order to make it faster?

Just wondering if anybody has experience and give some advice – stick with Relevanssi or should I be looking at a PHP generator to develop a search that is custom built around the database?

    Thanks!
    Tri

With 33k posts, I would very much suggest you use something else than Relevanssi. Relevanssi is designed for much smaller scale (thousands of posts, not tens of thousands).

You’d be better off with a search that’s served from an external server. AddSearch, for example, is lightning fast, no matter how many posts you have. Swiftype is another great product that scales well.

Relevanssi beats AddSearch and Swiftype hands down when it comes to flexibility –?you can anything you want with the Relevanssi results – but when it comes to speed and managing large databases, Relevanssi can’t compete.

    Hey Mikko –

Thanks for the info…I’m looking into SOLR as well.

Just FYI – Relevanssi is actually pretty quick! And the indexing only took 4 hours – others I’ve tested took 2days – you could bill Relevanssi to search engine companies just as an indexer ??
