Hyper slow loading after update to 5.0

Alright, I can’t reproduce what you’re claiming, and I’m out of ideas here unless you want to confirm exactly which version of PHP you’re using (which I have been asking for the past week).

I have generally the same observation that since upgrading to 5.0.3 (went direct from 4.9.9 to 5,0.3).

I have disabled all plugins – no change in performance.

I switch from Divi to the Twenty Nineteen theme – performance is restored to previous levels with all plugins enabled.

PHP 7.0.6 – My host is upgrading to 7.2 next week so nothing I can do in the interim.

Going to pursue with Divi folks, but wanted to share my observations too.

The Divi folks are good folks, and they should have it resolved once they get the information they need for you. ??

I am having the same problem here, and can confirm that DIVI appears to have been the culprit as things sped right up once I switched to the most recent WP resident theme. Interestingly, once I switched BACK to DIVI, it was still pretty perky. I’m wondering if that could be a result of cacheing.

I’m noticing this too. Not everyone wants to use WordPress themes out of the box when there’s other choices everywhere. The real question is why were all past sites and themes running good and efficient and once we upgrade to WP 5+ everything slows down? The culprit is inside of WP 5.

There are currently 6,930 themes and 54,686 plugins in the free directories alone, it is impossible for the WordPress developers to test every release with every theme and plugin.

This is why there is a very public multi-month beta period before each final release, during which time we publicly encourage each plugin and theme developer to test their own product and make changes and/or report bugs as necessary.

I have updated to 5.2.1 and it’s super slow. I don’t have any plugins activated and I also activated Twenty Nineteen theme, still, it’s slow

Ya. It slowed here too these last 5-7 days. Insight scores on some sites went from 92 to 40. No updates to the theme or plugins until after, and that didn’t resolve anything. Seems that all of the sites I have access to managing are slower. P3 Plugin Profiler doesn’t seem to be reporting anything as different. Still shows Jetpack as a hog since it has so much bloat. Each site has different plugins beyond Jetpack.

PHP versions are all over from 5.6.3 to 7.1

The lot of us have been running in circles dropping plugins and reconfiguring cache settings and trying everything we can to make improvements. One of the sites, the owner just took it down. Said he is going back to the basics of HTML lol (oh well).

Something somewhere happened. Also it doesn’t help that most of these sites are hosted on crap hosts like Bluehost or Hostgator, so they aren’t as quick as they could be to begin with.

I have thr same experience. I’ve been testing this thoroughly.

Just now I installed a 5.2.3.. no plugins. Default theme. It’s stupid slow. I did this at least 4 times now. Something isn’t right with the 5 and up. Different serves. A hostgator account. A digital ocean droplet. All the same. Slow and getting worse as it’s live and up for a bit.
