Hyphens in domain names

  • I have registered a domain name similar format to https://www.example-example-example.com

    I am using hyphens in the domain name and when I install WordPress from the Cpanel on hostpapa I get this message when I click on the website link.

    The address cannot be registered. Only lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers are allowed.

    So, my question is. What is the solution?

  • contact your host, its probably a problem with their website or cpanel, wordpress shouldnt care their are hythens in your domain name, its a valid character for a domain name.

    WordPress dose enforce a character policy for usernames however….

    Yes, I finally got an email from hostpapa, they said my name servers weren’t pointed to hostpapa, if I fixe that then wordpress should accept my registration
