I am being Plaigarised

  • So I have found this blog that is taking my content

    Some examples are

    hxxp://imaflyfisherman.zigzo.com/2006/06/12/celebrating-maryhill/

    It is even using the same catergories as my blog at https://www.theriverkelvin.co.uk/blog/

    I have emailed them asking them to remove my content, no reply. I emailed their host who told me “I’ve sent that client an email, but, you publish an RSS feed on your
    site which specifically allows people to do this by using any WordPress aggregation software.

    If you don’t want your work aggregated, you might want to consider
    turning off the feeds or somewhere listing terms that your RSS can be used”

    The content is still there, what would other people do in my shoes ?

  • He has google ads. Right at the top of the page.

    I missed the ad as it was so small! Anyway, all the better that it’s there…click on the ‘ads by google’, then click on ‘send google your thoughts on the ads you just saw’ and fill in the form to complain. This *is* a splog!

    LOL- no problem ladydelaluna these things happen, the thought is appreciated.

    Well so far I have sent a rather official email to the host courtesy of information from https://www.plagiarismtoday.com/. However they are now not returning emails, no fax number iether ??

    I made the author of midcurrent aware of what was going on so he has done the same ??

    My feeds are now excerpt, which seems to help and lastly I have complained to google about it being a splog.

    I understand the argument about RSS feeds, however I always felt (wrongly) it was for conveniance of reading that it was published that way, not just to be copied on other sites.

    I am of the mind that life is too short to practice revenge. At some point you cross the line from protecting yourself and your blog, and not following your blog’s mission. If your blog’s mission is to net sploggers and then do revenge, sue, and harass, then by all means, go right ahead. If your blog has a different mission, then I suggest doing the least that deters the most and get back to business. imo.

    Cool. Sounds like the host acted responsibly…

    It looks like the whole domain was shutdown due to another reason. At least that’s how it sounds when you visit the site.

    how do you set the feeds to excerpts only?

    Look in admin, Options, Reading. You’ll see an place for show full text or a summary in your feeds.

    thank you! I looked on that page and didn’t “see” it. I had a long night last night.
