I am completely lost with this thing

1. I set up a new custom sidebar: “To attach this sidebar to a unique Post or Page please visit that Post or Page & set it up via the sidebars metabox.”
2. I go to the blog page and look for the “sidebars metabox.” I see “Sidebars” with this:
“To change the sidebar for static Front-Page or Posts-Page:Go to the Widgets page
Click on “Sidebar Location”
Open the “Archive-Types” tab
Choose “Front-Page” or “Post-Index””Followed by a graphic.
3. I go back to Widgets, click on “Sidebar location,” open the Archive-Types” tab, choose “Post-Index.”
4. I go to the blog page and look for the “sidebars metabox.” I see “Sidebars” with this:

How am I doing? Not very well, trying to make sense of this plugin.
