    Reasons:

1 – Compatible version lagging way behind current WordPress version
2 – Author hasn’t responded to a single support post in over six months
3 – Support forum full of unresolved serious errors

I have had this plugin work before, but now I am getting partial sites. I literally have random pages which are incomplete! I get no errors, so I am given the impression that the cloning was successful, when in fact it was not.

That makes this plugin completely untrustworthy and unusable.

Did you try another one for cloning ?

I normally use Duplicator, but because of a setup that one particular client was using, WP Clone was better. If it worked…

But Duplicator is fine. You have to pretty much delete the entire WordPress installation first, so it isn’t good for migrating between a staging server and a live production server, but it’s great for backups and duplication.

I need to migrate between staging server and production.

Is there any recommended solution for this?

I was hoping WP Clone would handle it but seems like it’s not working any more and there’s no support.

lking57 – there is a lot of great info here:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/improve-wordpress-development-workflow-local-server/

I finally got a working setup on my Windows laptop last night:

    TortoiseGit
WP Migrate DB Pro w/ Media file add-on
    BitBucket

Still trying to work out the kinks in my overall workflow, but it works.

Also, just found out about this plugin which might make my WP Migrate DB Pro purchase completely worthless: https://revisr.io/

This plugin was great for it’s simplicity… Too bad.

I use WP Clone with Instant WordPress for development and maintain several sites and multiple versions at one time. Keeping track of which is which is a problem. Faking out WP Clone to restore from a file I’ve already put in the WP Clone Upload area by making a URL is really a pain.

It would be really helpful if I could name the backups with descriptive names or at least have that as part of the name.

It would also be really great to have WP Clone scan its upload area and offer to restore one of those files as an alternative to using URL’s.

    Thank you
