I am unable to proceed any further than the login box

  • I was able to successfully install wordpress, but for some reason, when I log in my web browser gives me this message:

    The website declined to show this webpage
    HTTP 403
    Most likely causes:
    This website requires you to log in
    ————————————————————-

    “This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.”

    This has nothing to do with username-password issues, since the login box would have promptly responded with a ‘username or password incorrect’ message instead of taking me to this other (inaccessible) page.

    Anybody have any idea what might be happening?

  • I’m having the same problem.

    I had this error too I don’t know if it has been resovled eslewhere in the forums but all you have to do is make it so the url finishes with ‘wp-admin/index.php’ it gets you in but I still have problems with every other page doing that too so I’m not sure what to do about those.

    “HTTP 403 Forbidden” means you do not have permissions to access this page. Make sure you have assigned the required permissions to your files and folders.
