• I am unable to update files in wordpress via FTP or through the file manager in Plesk

We have wordpress loaded and need to update .css files but I get the following error n Plesk’s file manager (see below) and ‘error, not allowed to overwrite’ in FTP (CuteFTP). I have changed the settings in CuteFTP but no luck. also changing the folder permissions doesn’t work either.

I am unable to access the .css file inside WP either as its in sub directory of a theme

    Can anyone help please

  • Perhaps too strict file rights / CHMOD.

hi – yes already tried that but won’t let me change the CHMOD settings even though I can do this outside of the WP directories

Asiging rights to files and folders is also dependent on the rights of the highest folder. If your WP folder itself doesn’t allow write rights to anyone, no folder within that WP folder can be edited.

yes, I had already checked that.

It seems the theme (galleria) has apache as the user & group instead of the user name and group setup for the domain. This is the same for the twenty ten theme.

The default and classic theme can be written to but not the galleria and twenty ten theme.

I have looked at other themes on another domain with WP and they are okay except for twenty ten.

Can you shed any light on this?
