• Initially I really liked this plugin when I first installed it and set it up, however, after setting up the all add ons for my products and doing a test on the cart page and to my surprise I found that the free plugin is fairly useless as it is.
You will need the Pro version to be able to use a quantity of more than 1 in the cart or product pages.
I found this limitation mentioned in the support forum but could not find it mentioned in the sales pitch on the description of the plugin and way too late to save me the time I wasted on it.
They have disabled the basic default functionality of WooCommerce where you can choose to add more than 1 of the same product to your cart. Adding more than a single product (including add ons) to the cart basically only increases the price of the product itself and not the add ons.
For that you will need to buy the Pro version.
There does not seem to be a way to limit the user to a quantity of only 1 if you really wanted to have a useless shop.
In my case, my products start with a value of $0 and choosing the add on options to build the price.
However, if I choose a quantity of 2, it halves the item value and does not increase the total.
I’m not sure what the intention is but it seems like a pointless plugin considering they give you all these options and tools in the plugin, which it seems you can’t really use.
I’ve just switched to another plugin.

    Hi @hurri500

This limitation is clearly mentioned on this forum and within the plugin itself.

Furthermore, most other plugins do not have any pricing options at all in their free versions.

We do not make plugins as a hobby. This is our livelihood. Naturally, we will have to strike a balance between what is free and paid. I dislike that you rate us 1 star just because the plugin does not have the feature you need. It is unfair.

    Hi Maarten,
    Thank you for your response.
What you're suggesting is that I somehow knew about the limitation and was supposed to search the forum for it before I downloaded the plugin.
It is vaguely indicated in the plugin by means of a disabled option on the dropdown when you can choose a price type. How would I know what that means without you telling me or me testing it?
In any event, I still needed to download the plugin, set it up and test it.

I appreciate that you don’t build plugins for a hobby and that it is how you make your income but at the same token I also build websites for a living and have wasted several hours of my time when I could have simply bought the pro version if it was clearer about the limitation from the outset.

I do not give any developers a one star rating lightly but it seems as though this limitation is “hidden” so as to force an upgrade to the Pro version.
I don’t like that and it is unfair to me to have to stumble across the limitation.
I have rated the plugin based on my experience and found it very surprising that the quantity in WooCommerce does not work as I would expect it to.
As I said I cannot see the benefit of your plugin in any use case because I cannot choose more than a quantity of 1.

I have not tried another free version so I cannot comment on how they may or may not work.
I have coded my own add ons plugin for WooCommerce.

    Hi @hurri500

Please read this whole thing. I know it is long but hope you will read it anyway.

We do not hide anything. It litterally says so in the pricing settings: https://i.snipboard.io/64gmDk.jpg I am not sure how much clearer we can be here. On top of that, there are other hints too:

    1) The plugin description compares free/pro features and says this under “pro”: https://i.snipboard.io/B76kb9.jpg .

    2) The pricing options are grayed out with a note to “pro” in the free plugin. So it is very easy to see which pricing options are available and which ones require pro.

    3) We have documentation (where we link to in our free version) listing all pricing options, clearly distinguishing between “quantity-bases” and a flat fee.

    4) Underneath the pricing setting, that link says “important note about pricing”.

We are not trying to hide anything. In fact, we warn you about this in various places as described above.

Of course we can always improve and be even more clear but I honestly do not know how without using a bold red font (which I try to avoid because I do not want to make the WP admin interface any more confusing). But as per your advice, I will make it extra clear in the plugin description. I think you are right that we could do better there.

You may not care about this rating but I do. It is a slap in the face when I work hard to maintain a free plugin and I get accused of something I am not trying to do. At least find the courage to change your rating to a 3 or something as I do not think this is my fault.

I understand you are frustrated but, if I may be so bold, that is partly on you if you ignore what we write in our plugin settings. You have to admit this can not be much clearer? https://i.snipboard.io/64gmDk.jpg I do not have bad intentions.

    Hi Maarten,

I reinstalled your free plugin to see where I may have overlooked the messages you pointed out and I see that I was wrong and they are there, although in my opinion still not flagged well enough considering the cart function makes the free plugin very limited.
(My screen does not look like your screenshot – it is a text link)

I have changed my rating as the plugin is made well, has a great user interface and does allow add ons to be added to a product.

I still maintain that while you allow a price to be added or changed for a product via an add on you have not allowed the add on values to be included in the quantity calculations. I therefore cannot see how the free plugin could seriously be used on a shop.
To be honest, when I saw your “quantity based pricing” option I serious thought it was to allow you to change the quantity of a line item in the add on, not to enable the quantity in the WooCommerce calculation.
I would suggest that you add an option to limit the checkout quantity to 1 when using your free version on your Flat Fee option if you continue to have this limitation.

I’m sure you already know that there are other free WooCommerce add on plugins that do not have the limitation your one does, they include the add on values in the quantity calculation, which is what I would have expected as a minimum function of the WooCommerce cart.

Anyway, thank you for efforts and engaging in this frank discussion.

    Hi @hurri500

I appreciate this a lot! Thank you for taking the time to see my side of it too. In the meantime, I have changbed some wording in our plugin description to make it more clear. This is one: https://i.snipboard.io/GQqH7u.jpg
