I blew it up..now please help me :-(

Hi People,
I tried to restore my website database on my localmachine using XAMMP. I read some instructions on Tamba2.org regarding the restoration and dropped the database to import the new one. Now when I import the SQL file it shows a dialog box and asks me the username/password for my website CPanel. When I cancel it it leaves behind a string of errors. I know that there is some strange code in the SWL query which I need to delete/modify but I do not know which one/ Can you guys help me out with this?

could be it but the above post is very confused.
What did you try and exactly what went wrong?
Is your real blog affected at all?
Lots of info please – you know what you mean, we do not and we need to get it right for you.OK, Nothing has happened to my original blog (phew!) Here’s what I did:
? I first took a backup of my original blog database to be installed on my local machine. The reason was that I needed to install WP2 to see if all the plugins work fine with it later.
? Later I went about my usual routine of checking come DIY articles and stumbled upon this one on TAMBA2 which asked me to drop the tables if I wanted to restore it and hence I did the same. Now I got nothing. My DB on the local mahcine was gone. So I created a new one and called it ‘WordPress’
? the next thing was to import the database (SQL text file) which I taken from the original website. I pressed ‘SQL tab within the ‘WordPress’ database and after a while there was this dialog box asking the username /password for the cpanel of my original website. When I pressed cancel, it left behind a lot of error strings. For instance:
[code]
ERROR: Unknown Punctuation String @ 5

I hope this explanation helped.
Please help me folks ??
Here’s a small information which I forgot to mention earlier. I created a new database with ‘utf8_unicode_ci’ option. Am I right in doing this?
For backing up the database I followed the instructions on this page: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Backing_Up_Your_Database
ok Guys I have another query here regarding the upgradation to WP 2 (I am currently on 1.5.1.3). There is an upgrade option available through Fantastico in my Cpanel which is provided by the host. I just wanted to know if it is safer to go by this route rather than upgrading manually. Please let me know your comments on the same.
First the upgrade: I don’t trust cpanel to upgrade anything but I’m sure some people are fine. If you are concerned I will happily upgrade your blog to the latest code. Drop me an email to tamba2 at gmail dot com. I’ll need all your logins but I’ve done this for loads of people so you are safe ??
Back to the local install: You got a very odd error which I’ve not seen reported before. I assume that you are trying to replicate your blog?
Essentially you copy all your web files and put them into xampp then you import the sql file. You don’t install and you don’t drop tables.
If you are having problems there, you could send me the sql file and I will return it after it has imported (I import, save the import, you put the import in the right place.)I can’t see where the error has crept in because your experience has not been reported here before though those guides have been followed by a few so maybe it’s a local difference.
If you’d rather not send me information – which is okay – we can run through things here.
Podz, I would rather write a mail to you. (I didn’t know you were the original Tamba2 o:-)) I don’t mind sharing login information with a trustworthy resource who will help me in the longer run ??
Before that I wanted to see if the plugins that I have installed will run perfectly with WP2. Here’s a list of the ones which are critical to the functioning of my blog (www.bhooshan.com):
1. Spell Checker
2. WP-ContactForm
3. WP-Upload Manager
4. WP Paginate
5. Smart Archives
6. ShowOnFrontPage
7. Autometa
8. Tiger Style Administration
9. SpamKarma 2 Reloaded
10. Bad Behavior
11. Blix (the theme)
12. WP Plugin Manager
13. WP Theme Manager
14. Google Analyticator
15. PHP Exec
16. RedirectifyPlease let me know your opinion on the same. Thanks for everything ??
2, 8 need upgrading
12 – no idea but it’s a dead project right now
3 – the author’s website needs checking
13 – didn’t know there was one ??The others should be fine.
If you find a plugin that is not compatible but you wish to keep, you could always upgrade to 1.5.3 (which is officially a beta but I’ve been using it for a few weeks) and it is secure.I would check with the plugin sites just to be sure though.
Thanks Podz for this update ??
I can do without 8 since it’s just an eye candy tool for the admin panel. # 12 is also fine as you said it’s a dead project now. I checked the website for #3. Most of the comments have been written in chinese and I couldn’t gather anything.
Apart from these the rest are of a huge significance to me. I will send you and email detailing the login information. Let me know how soon we can set this up.
How soon ? Now ??
Check your mailbox in a little under 5 minutes ??
Thanks for everything Podz ??
This one needs a special mention in my memoirs if I ever write one ??
Err.. can someone go to https://www.bhooshan.com/contact and tell me how I can reform the darn ‘submit’ button to look normal?
