• I can not get on my site. When I click on it, it tries to load, but stalls indefinately. This includes the wp/admin page. I have cleared my browser, rebooted my system and modem, but nothing. Others can access it, because I am still getting stats, but I can not.

    I tried that…any other ideas?

As samboll says, it loads instantly for me, too.

There are thousands of things that could be wrong with the computer you are using. Trying a different browser is probably the most practical thing to get going in a hurry.

If that doesn’t work, a wild guess of first thing to try is to temporarily disable all your anti-virus, firewall, etc. software. Being sure to turn it back on right away after testing.

Also, have you tried other common but complex sites, like cnn.com, etc.?

Okay, now I can get on…I didn’t do anything different…this freaks me out!!
I had no trouble accessing any site during this ‘down time’ except my own!!! EEEK!!! I tried turning off the antivirus, clearing my browser, rebooting my dsl modem….*sigh*
I don’t get it…it worked fine for months–why would it do that to me!! And then decide to start working spontaniously!! *shaking head*
    Thank you for your help…:o)

I have seen files get “stuck” in the browser’s cache and muck up your life for an hour, day, week or nearly a month. Both Firefox and IE.

    It happens.

    Well, that stinks! :O)

Thanks, though, for taking the time to offer your help….:O)

A quick thing to keep in mind for browser problems like this is: reboot your computer if clearing your browser cache or other browser actions does not solve anything that could be a browser problem. Even restarting a browser may not be enough because some browser components may still be running in the background despite your browser restart. Likewise, just logging off and logging on to your Windows ID. A computer reboot is the only way to make sure that all browser components really do restart.

ANother this that has not been mentioned is that many ISPs now Cache your commonly used sites to ‘Accelerate’ your experience. this makes it seem like the Internet that they are providing is faster.

ALSO, if you are usin gOpera, and have the ‘Turbo’ function enabled, it can do the same thing.

Good to know about ISP caching! I wasn’t aware anyone was doing that anymore.

    “That is so 1996!”
