    Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

    Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

    You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles. https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/

    Something with a “500” in it would be a good start. But contact your host.

    I did try renaming all my plugins and it appears to be my w3-total-cache that is the problem.

    Is that something I can uninstall and reinstall?

    I stopped using W3TC and switched to using two plugins, “autoptimize” and WP Super Cache.

    ughhh well I tried to delete that plugin and now at the top of my wp-admin page there is this….

    Installation failed: W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/db.php.W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php.{“success”:true,”data”:{“install”:”plugin”,”slug”:”wp-super-cache”,”pluginName”:”WP Super Cache”,”activateUrl”:”http:\/\/www.navigatingwithgrace.com\/wp-admin\/plugins.php?_wpnonce=64d54f6f81&action=activate&plugin=wp-super-cache\/wp-cache.php”}}

    W3 is no longer listed as a plug in under my plug ins but I cannot install any other plug ins either?

    Maybe this is because I tried to uninstall it before I changed the name back in my cpanel when I found it was the issue….darn my limited knowledge!!!

    it is still a folder under my plugins in my cpanel just named w3-total-cache.deac (the name a gave it) but it is not editable or renamable?

    You can’t just delete the plugin.

    Google “manually remove W3 Total Cache” for guidance.
