  • Hey there, @wocmultimedia! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

This might be happening due to a conflict issue.

To test, you’ll first want to change the theme on your site to Storefront, then check to see if the issue is still present. If that resolves the issue, you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s developer and see if they have an update or fix for you.

If changing the theme doesn’t help, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

You can find more about this in this guide.

If this does not help, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    • Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.
    • Can you please also share a screenshot of the error message you get? I’d recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi there @carolm29,
I followed the steps you suggested but no way to activate the plugin.
Here’s the screenshot as required because if I cannot activate it’s impossible to go to woocommerce > etc.?

Edit: I also tried to deactivate Defender firewall, just in case it was blocking Chrome or WP but nothing changed.

    Hi there @wocmultimedia ??

My understanding is this is happening just in one local WordPress installation, today. Correct?

As this is about a local install, and I see from your profile here that you are a translation contributor, how possible is it that a preconfigured package (blueprint, if you like) is utilized to “spin” the local installation?

If that is not the case, could you share the steps with which you are reaching to this screen, so that we can try reproducing?

Once I hear back from you, I will be happy to investigate this further.

    Regards,

    Hi,
    1- Yes, it’s a local installation, indeed.
2- I’m using this prepackaged Bitnami configuration since time because I’m not so good to deal with all the fuss about Apache server and database. It worked very fine so far and yes, only I use this installation to check plugin during the translations. So I usually keep all plugins deactivated to avoid any conflict.

    Hi there @wocmultimedia ??

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further.

Just to be sure, does this happen with only the prepackaged Bitnami currently in use, or with an earlier version also? In case there is a more recent one, also, what happens when that one is utilized?

Moreover, does WooCommerce come prepackaged, with activating it being the only required step left, or otherwise?

    Hi,
    Thanks for helping me.
1- This happens in this Bitnami installation because I have on my website online and it works correctly.
2- Previous versions didn’t give any problem at all.
3- Woocommerce didn’t was in the prepackage, because Bitnami at the time supplied a package only including Apache server, Database and WP 5.5. I used this to check plugins UI and translations so I also installed Woocommerce to check its different part labels and make coherent translations as well as testing the use of it. Then I deactivated it.
I downloaded this version twice making all tests to activate it but nothing. No way to succeed. I don’t know if it is maybe a PHP problem. But usually my installation is auto updating in all parts I suppose. I checked and PHP is 7.4.11.0 while at beginning when I installed it was a prior version.
    That’s what I can understand.

    Hello @wocmultimedia,

    Thank you for the clarification!

Could you please check for any fatal error logs?

Here’s how you can retrieve them:

    1. Go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
    2. In the upper right corner, locate the drop-down menu.
    3. Search for the keyword “fatal”.
    4. This should display the relevant logs we’re looking for. If you find any, select each log one by one and click “View.”
    5. You can then copy & paste them here or use a text-sharing application like GitHub Gist.

Also, unless there’s something in the Bitnami installation that you need, I suggest checking LocalWP instead. I’ve been using it for two years and it never failed me.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi

Unfortunately I can’t go to WooCommerce menu because if I can’t activate the plugin it’s menus don’t appear of course.

I will also give a glance at other package you suggested but it would be nice to understand the origins of the issue to help others. I can give up this plugin but it’s a pity not finding the solution. Thanks for helping me.

    Hi @wocmultimedia,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with the WooCommerce plugin.

Could you try running the installation from a different local environment, like the ones recommended here?

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi there,
Thank you very much for the support. @ckadenge I had a glance at the Jetpack post you suggested and I will make a new local installation, maybe the Bitnami package I’m using is not full updated!?
I will let you know as soon as I create the new environment.

    Hello wocmultimedia

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I agree that the Bitnami package may be at fault.
Please let us know how the new environment setup goes ??

    Have a great day!

    Hi there,
I set up the new local installation using Laragon and it works. It took me just ten minutes in total to get ready to add plugins in new WP.
Maybe the Bitnami installation that I set up in 2020 had a lower version of PHP (7.4.1) than required by either WP 6.4.2 or WooCommerce?
Anyhow, I thank all of you for helping me in debugging my situation.
    Have a blissful day!

    Hey @wocmultimedia,

I’m glad to hear that your local installation using Laragon is up and running smoothly. It’s indeed possible that the PHP version 7.4.1 in your Bitnami installation might have been lower than required by WP 6.4.2 or WooCommerce, which could have caused some issues.

Meanwhile, I’ll mark the thread as solved for now. Feel free to create a new topic if you need further help with WooCommerce core.

    Thanks!
