    Hello,

I’ve been having the following problem for quite a while and, as I’ve read, so have a few others.
I can’t download my backups in the WP backend.
My backups are about 2GB in size. When I click on download the download starts. But the downloaded file only has a size of 22MB and cannot be opened. Download is done via Chrome. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with Firefox either, the file is 1.2 GB in size but can’t be opened either.
If the option to download is offered, it should also work!

Small backups, for example of the database, work without any problems.

    Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issues with downloading your backups.

For larger files, you might face server limitations. Here are a couple of solutions:

    1. Increase PHP Execution Time: Addset_time_limit(300); to your wp-config.php file to extend the download time. Or you can ask your hosting provider to increase it to at least 300.
    2. Download via FTP or cPanel: Access the backup files directly using an FTP client or through your hosting account’s cPanel. Navigate to wp-content/uploads/backwpup-xxxx and download the file manually.

These steps should help resolve the problem.

Hello, unfortunately it does not work with the entry in the wp-config.php.So far I have downloaded the backups via FTP but if the function is available in the plugin I would like to use it and it is less cumbersome.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

Besides ensuring you’re using the latest PHP version, which may affect WordPress compatibility, I don’t see any other issues on our end.

The download issue is typically caused by server limitations and is not specific to BackWPUp. I recommend reaching out to your hosting support team to check the server settings that might be interrupting PHP scripts related to downloads.

Otherwise, you can download the backups via FTP or offload them to another storage solution from where you can download them more easily.

    Best regards,
