    Dear people,

I have created a store page for my website. However, I have noticed that I am unable to edit it directly from the page itself. The only option available to me is to personalize it, as there is no “edit” button at the top of the page like there is on other pages or articles.

Interestingly, if I navigate to the page list within the website, I can find and click the “edit” button. Yet, another peculiar observation is that the page appears completely different when accessed this way. Furthermore, if I open the page preview, it displays the online version of the page, which again differs from what I see in edit mode.

I hope my explanation is clear. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best,

    Giuseppe

    Hello govisola

Thank you for contacing Woo support.

The Shop page you are looking at is most probably a Shop Page Template.
Templates have hardcoded content and cannot be edited directly like other user-created pages.
The elements on the Shop page may be updated via options provided by the Theme.

To help you further, I’d like to review your site’s System Status Report.
You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Once you’ve done that, you can paste the text in https://gist.github.com
After that, you can paste the Gist link here in your reply.

Looking forward to your response. ??

    Best regards.

    Hello @doublezed2

Thank you for your response. I also talked with Astra theme and they told me that “the “Shop” page is treated as an archive page for displaying products. This means it doesn’t function like a regular WordPress page that you can edit with the standard page editor. Instead, it pulls in products from your WooCommerce store.”

Nevertheless I prepared the link, maybe you can give me more tips or see if there is anything wrong. You can find it here.

I just asked them, and I ask you, since you are part of a support: can I delete the content I see in the page editor inside the wp-admin (those content that are not visible online but in the edit mode of the store page inside wp-admin/pages)? And, How can I optimize the store page for SEO? For each page of my store, I use Yoast SEO, and it gave me the preview for Google search. Can I simply go to wp-admin under pages, and inside that page, add the meta description?

    Best,
    Giuseppe

    Hey, @govisola!

Nevertheless I prepared the link, maybe you can give me more tips or see if there is anything wrong. You can find it?here.

I checked your report and found two thing worth mentioning:

1 – Your PHP memory limit is too low. Lower than the minimum recommended, which can cause issues. We recommend at least 256 MB.

You can find more about this in this guide.

2 – According to the report, your cart and payment page are not public, please keep that in mind, as they will need to be public to work.

I just asked them, and I ask you, since you are part of a support: can I delete the content I see in the page editor inside the wp-admin (those content that are not visible online but in the edit mode of the store page inside wp-admin/pages)??

Do you mind sharing a screenshot of what you see there so we can take a look?

?And, How can I optimize the store page for SEO? For each page of my store, I use Yoast SEO, and it gave me the preview for Google search. Can I simply go to wp-admin under pages, and inside that page, add the meta description?

For SEO help I suggest reaching out to your SEO plugin or to a SEO expert, as they will be more equipped to help ??

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hello @carolm29

    Thank you for your reply.

1: I contacted my hosting service and I asked them to increase that PHP memory limit. Hope for the best.

2: I just published the cart and payment page as suggested. Now they are online.

Sharing pictures here in this chat seems complicated. You have to upload them somewhere and share the link and I don’t know how to do it. For that reason first I will try to answer you: when I go inside my wp-admin under pages I see my store page. So the public version is what you all see. On the other side the edit-mode version has different contents. It has a classic editor input with a product grid and text I wrote in the past… I now deleted this content and made a preview of the page, it seems that this action didn’t influence the public page. Should I save this action? I think yes, right?

    3: I will do ??

    Have a wonderful Saturday ??

    Hello ?? @govisola,

Thanks for sharing an update with us.

I contacted my hosting service and I asked them to increase that PHP memory limit. Hope for the best.

Increasing your memory limit will greatly enhance your site’s performance.

Sharing pictures here in this chat seems complicated.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble sharing images here on the forum. You can opt to use https://snipboard.io/ which is quite straight forward, you upload the image to that site then share the link from that site directly with us here. You can find instruction on the site as well.

?Should I save this action? I think yes, right?

It’s normal to see different content in the edit mode. The changes you make in edit mode won’t reflect on the public page until you save them. So yes, if you’re happy with the changes you’ve made in the edit mode, go ahead and save them. This will update the public version of your page. If it doesn’t show, please try viewing from a private/incognito tab.

I hope this clarifies your queries. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Happy weekend!
