I cannot get qTranslate to work, Help!!

I am helping a friend translate their website into other languages, we are starting with Spanish as I live in Spain.
The websibe is https://www.playtennisinthesun.com and I have built this with Ink Theme responsive wordpress theme.

I do not have a lot of experience with WP but I can follow instructions well, I have tried to follow the tutorial for Translate but the outcome for each screenshot is not what actually happens.
First of all when I copied the code into home page settings for English and Spanish the next screenshots show them on separate pages but I have both languages on the English home page??
The next screen shot shows separate tabs for the different languages, how do I do this, ??
I want to put the text in myself which I have translated and not use any automatic programme, is there someone out there that can help me with the first 1 or 2 pages then I can replicate for the other pages.
I also want the menu in Spanish which I have done but have no idea how to attach the home page to the flag.
The support staff at Ink Theme have given me code to add into the header.php and css code to get the flags into my header but again I think I am missing something as it does not work.
