This plugin “Genesis Single Post Navigation” is only for the Genesis Framework — it’s clearly stated in the message you got. I built in this check to prevent from activating if no Genesis is there, as it it will not work with other themes.

If you don’t want to buy the – premium – Genesis Framework or have another theme in use, you can try the non-Genesis version of my plugin from here: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-single-post-navigation/
