I can’t add a site Icon

Whenever I try to add a site icon for my website, it always says that it’s cropping the image forever. When I load the image in, the only button I can press to continue forward is the crop image button. And no matter what the size of the image is, it never ends. I’ve gone as low as 150pt or as high as 800pt. I’ve even put the image as exactly 512×512 so it shouldn’t even need to crop at all.
