I have recently installed WordFence on several of my sites. They all run Thesis and everything has been working great.

I receive emails all the time about users being locked out because they try to login with a username that does not exist (love that feature)

I then go and permanently block that IP – normally all is good.

This morning I received an email from one of my sites that an IP had been blocked. When I went to permanently block it – no IPs were listed in the locked or recently locked tab.

I then tried to manual input the IP and block it and that would not work either.

I checked all my settings on options and re-ran a scan and it came up clean.

Any ideas on what is happening or what I should do?

    Thanks
    Bryan

I do notice that WordFence says at the top
“Wordfence Live Activity: Ajax request received to unblock All IP’s including permanent blocks.”

I am not sure why it would say that – anyone have any suggestions?

There are links at the top of the blocked IPs list for clearing all blocked or locked-out IPs, which would display that message, above the box where you can type IPs to block manually.

For the original issue, where you couldn’t block the one IP — are you able to manually block any IPs?

Or you could add a line to your .htaccess file:

    deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

No I could not block them manually either.

I “solved” it by deleting the entire hosting account and redoing it from scratch. I can now block IPs.

    Thanks
