• Yesterday my theme disappeared. If you went to my site, you just saw a smiley face in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. However, I could still log into WordPress dashboard.

I contacted the theme writer, who advised I deactivate my plug-ins and reinstall them until I found the troublemaker. After I deactivated my plug-ins I got a long list of error messages.

Now if you go to my site https://www.honeybeesuite.com or to my log-in window https://www.honeybeesuite.com/wp-admin/ all you see is this list of error messages. Since I can’t get to WordPress dashboard, I don’t know how to fix anything.

Is there a way to get rid of these error messages?

  • I would try to re-install the theme.

    Christine,

    I would re-install the theme except I can’t get to my dashboard because I can’t find a log-in window.

You would need to do this via FTP. In fact, once you’ve logged in via ftp, make a copy of the old theme and then upload a fresh copy.

    Christine,

Okay, you’ll have to lead me by the hand here. I should go in via ftp, find my theme folder, and copy that to my home computer?

Then should I delete the old theme from my website? Then I should transfer the fresh copy to the site?

Correct me if my thinking is wrong. Will I lose any posts and pages doing this?

Thank you so much. I’m not techy at all (as you can see), but I am very grateful for any insight.

    Christine,

Another question: BlueHost suggested I reinstall WordPress. How can you tell whether the problem is with my theme or with WordPress?

I’m seeing your site once again. Does that mean that everything is sorted?

If so, please mark this thread as resolved.

    Cheers
