I cant LOG IN!

Yet another update …
When I go to request a new password it says :
Login:
Password: 170947 (changed)
Login at: https://early-frost.org/wp-login.php
There is nothing stated in the login field. Could this have something to do with me not being able to login.
I tried getting another friend of mine to try logging using my admin information, she is unable to. The page keeps reloading on it’s own.

something is wrong with the cookies and its on both these forums and the wp installation. Other sites’ login work ok.
(somehow it happens in both…maybe Merphy law…)
(Blog dir is not the install dir)
Blog : FF0.8, Opera 7.51 -> Login OK
Blog : IE6 -> No Login
Forums : FF0.8, Opera, IE6 -> No Login
(“Login/password combination is incorrect” even if I reset the password, clear cookies/cache)
From the pc at work I get random results in logging in.
I hope devs are working on that since there is a growing number of people reporting login problems and are driven away…
I hope this “cookie-eating-bug” is squashed soon !

Finally I got in with Opera.
Didnt do anything. Just tried one more time.

One of the times I had this problem (I’ve ahd it thre times so far) it was due to a corrupted wp-admin/vars.php file. This file is where your login cookie is set so if it’s messed up then you can’t log in. It took me a week to track it down to that one file because no one ever mentioned it’s importance. So I thought I’d mention it now. Try re-uploading a fresh version of that one file, and possibly of login.php, just to be sure that’s not your problem.

I’ve had this problem when my “siteurl” wasn’t set in the options table.
It happened every time I upgraded from an older b2 blog to a shiny new wordpress blog. When the “siteurl” option is set to “https://” the login page doesn’t work properly. Setting it to the proper value cleared it all up.
Gotta say, it was a bit of a panic when it happened the first time.

submo, if you are still getting the e-mail with the empty login when you request a lost password e-mail, as you said here, you you sure you made the code tweak that I mentioned above, the one described at https://www.ads-software.com/support/3/5931#post-17? I ask because I thought that that was the fix for that particular problem.

I managed to find where the link to phpMYadmin was, and I followed the directions that were on the thread that I was asked to check out origionally, that manged to do the trick. So thank you very much to – podz, litlnemo, and litlnemo for all of your help.

It’s not fixed for me. Help!
I really don’t want to give up on this. I completely deleted the entire install of WordPress as well as deleted the MySQL table entirely. And I STILL can’t log in on a fresh install with a new table.
Emptied cache, deleted cookies, etc. What could this possibly be???

Dont mean to sound trivial. But once I needed to reboot. Do not ask me how it worked but it did.

Strange, you can check the database nexttime.
