Firstly; I am not that familiar with multisite. This site was created by a company that don’t exist anymore and I am helping a client (who’s also a friend) to host and update the site. They are selling outdoor activities, and there’s little room for downtime, especially now when it’s getting hotter here in Sweden.

Short story: After updating from WP 6.4.4 to 6.5.2 I can’t edit the different sites. The public sites look good though and work as they should.

Long story: The site is hosted with Plesk on a Linux Ubuntu VPS. Everything is up to date.

Two weeks ago I decided to update the site to WP 6.5.2. That didn’t work so I tried to restore the backup which didn’t work eiheter (panic), so I got support from Plesk that helped me restore the site. After activating some deactivated plugins it finally worked.

It all looked good, but after that I can’t reach the settings for the different sites. Ie, when I choose My Sites, I get the dropdown, and clicking on of the dropdowns should take you to the site. Instead I get a message that says something about to many redirections occurred. The URL is https://www.mysite.se/kontrollpanel-sitename/wp-admin/

(I don’t know if that URL is correct or not, but that is what it’s showing.)

At the moment I am stuck. There are a lot of plugins that need updates, and *maybe* that will solve this problem, but I’m too afraid of updating (due to previous downtime), and cloning the site don’t work.

Any ideas of where to look?

  • The URL is not working. However, if you can access multi-site admin you can update all themes/plugins. As you said the main site is working for you, I hope you can do this. If still problem not solved please let me know.

    Thanks for the input!

FWIW; This was solved by restoring a backup of the .htaccess file.
