I can't uncheck the box: Discourage search engines from indexing this site

    I see a note at the top of my screen that says that I need to go to Reading Settings and uncheck the box next to Discourage search engines from indexing this site, but when I go there, the check mark is greyed out, and I can’t uncheck it. I don’t know code. please help me!

    This would normally occur if a plugin is overriding the default behaviour for the settings.

    One way to rule this out would be to deactivate your plugins and check whether you are then able to tick or untick the ‘Discourage search engines’ box.

    Then it would be a case of reactivating each plugin in turn and checking that the setting stays the way you want it. If it becomes greyed out again then the last plugin you reactivated would be the culprit.
