I can’t upload .xlsm files (Excel Macro files) in WP v. 5.0.2

  • After updating my WordPress from v. 4.7 something to v.5.0.2, I’m no longer able to upload .xlsm files (Excel Macro files).

    I installed the ‘Mime Types Plus’ plugin and tried to upload an Excel Macro file (.xlsm).

    But, I still received this error message:
    “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”

    I researched online a lot. I think this info may be useful:

    However, I’m not familiar with PHP. If you can give me any advice to resolve this, I’d appreciate it very much.

    My site environment:
    WP: v.5.0.02
    PHP: v.7.2.13
    WP Theme: Cocoon

  • I am also having the same exact issue. In the Mime Type Settings settings under the list of allowed mime types and file extensions by WordPress is: xlsm = application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.macroEnabled.12, and yet, I am still getting the “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons” error message.
