• I have tried several SMTP plugins for WordPress. Most do the basics well, when they work. Recently, the owner of a site running WP Mail SMTP asked about sent emails. The free version of that plugin does not log emails, so there was little I could do.

One thing I learned about WP Mail SMTP, although I had not heard of (nor confirmed) repeated failures. Until today. Today, I learned WP Mail SMTP sometimes just quits sending emails. If you open the settings (and just save the same settings) it tends to work for some time but eventually fails.

I searched for a new solution and came across this plugin Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log. Emphasis on LOG. This works perfectly! We could immediately see that the configuration/setup worked, and that the email was successfully received by Amazon SES. So far, everything has worked exactly as it should.

Kudos to the developer, and a huge THANK YOU for your efforts. This functionality should be part of the WordPress core code (although I know it never will be), because WordPress was designed as a blogging platform and not much else without plugins.
