    I am using WordPress 2.0.7

I created a page and published it.

I see the page link on my blog.

When I click it, I get the Apache “The requested URL /muffin/ was not found on this server.”

I read up on problems associated with this kind of thing.

My Permalinks are set to “Date and name based”.. and I clicked “Update Permalink structure” without updating the style of structure. (I don’t want to mess with all the links that are out there)

I still have the same problem.

My new page is still 404. Any suggestions, ideas, whatever, would be greatly appreciated.

More hints: I have other pages that are working fine. Those were created long ago.

I think I have the problem figured out. I need to update the CHMOD of my .htaccess file but I don’t own it. My web guy picked a great time to go on vacation =P

What do you mean you don’t own it? If you can access it it via FTP – you should be able to change the permissions.

    I am using FTP Voyager.

When I check the properties of the .htaccess file, I see 775. If I try to change the file to 777 I get the following message: “Unable to set file permissions.”

I see this for the FTP commands being done:

    SITE chmod 777 .htaccess
    550 .htaccess: Operation not permitted

The permissions of the file are -rwxrwxr-x

Also, in the properties page, I see a User and a Group designation for the file with the name of my web guy as the User.

I’m guessing he has protected the file… does this make sense? Thanks moshu very much for replying. It is very much appreciated.
