• I’ve not been here in many years. I use WordPress on my own site, but noticed something odd there tonight. Not wrong, just not what I was used to. I had my site set to display all posts, all the time. I have a duplicate of my blog here, but I hadn’t cause to search for anything from years gone by until today. And I couldn’t find the post. Here, or at my own site.

I used to go into the code and change that “howdy” but I gave up and let it be. Though I still don’t like it, howdy, for me is, howdy doody. And I didn’t like him either.

So my question is, how do I get this version and any other to display all of my posts all the time without that click on the bottom? The only reason I care is because the “search” feature is really useless unless it searches all posts and mine go back to 2007. I had two children, both have died. I wrote about that, today is the anniversary (what a horrible word) of my oldest sons passing. I wanted to reference something I had written then, now. And had a hell of a time finding it. Which was unpleasant, given the circumstances, and annoying in any event. Here, on the official site, I grant you can make the rules, but on my own site, I should be able to as well. I’m sorry if I sound crabby, I am not at my best today. How do I change things so that all posts are always available for viewing and searching? Thank you.

It goes without saying this is THE premier site for bloggers of any nature!

  • Gene, sorry to hear about your troubles.

Is your site hosted on WordPress.com or is it self-hosted (i.e. you bought hosting from a company and installed WordPress on their servers)?

If you’re on WordPress.com, you should ask for support here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/.

For a self-hosted WordPress installation – again this is in reference to you purchasing a hosting plan from a hosting provider like GoDaddy, BlueHost or some other similar company, and installing WordPress on their servers – normally after logging onto the site, you can use the search from the toolbar in the upper right corner when you’re viewing the front end of the site. This will return all posts and pages with the text you searched for. Another way to search is to search inside the posts or pages menu of the Dashboard. So in the Admin, click on Posts (or pages) and in the table of posts (or pages), in the upper right, is a filter that can filter and show only the posts/pages with the text you filter on.

At any rate, either way should show all posts/pages with the text you searched for.

    I hope this helps.
