  • If you’ve got the Disqus count script (count.js) installed on the page, the most likely culprit for a comment count not filling with the correct number of the thread is that the comment count link value likely does not exactly match the thread URL value for the thread showing on the page.

    To determine the thread URL value for a thread with comments, you’ll want to locate a comment from this thread in the moderation panel (or you can click the dropdown menu in the comment section and select “Moderate” to be taken directly to it). Click on that comment in the moderation panel so that the right sidebar appears, and you should be able to click the option at the bottom of that sidebar “Moderate all comments in this discussion”. This will input the Thread ID into the search bar.

    You can then use this API call with that thread ID to determine the details of that thread: https://disqus.com/api/docs/threads/details/
    The “Link” value in the API response will be the thread URL. You’ll want to ensure that your comment count link value matches the thread link value *exactly*, with #disqus_thread appended to the end. This should allow the correct comment count to appear.
