• Hi!

I am working on the site (on subdomain) new.recondoil.com. The templete is “Pinboard” by One Designs. But I DONT want this site to be responsive when I look at it on my cellphone! It really dont look good! How can I evade it? I want it to be a “usual site” even on my phone….:(

    Best regards E.

Oookay, folks, put down the coffee and step away from the keyboards.

    Erikajosefine –

    You have two options.

    1) Pick a NON-responsive theme
    2) Learn the CSS to make this non-responsive (the ‘easiest’ way would be to make a child theme, copy the whole CSS over, and delete everything for responsive sizes)

No one’s flaming you, no one’s attacking you. They’re telling you the facts, and it’s possible that something was lost in translation. It happens.

You say you normally purcahse themes. Perhaps you aren’t familiar with how free support on free themes work: It’s mostly DIY. If you want to hire someone to make it non-responsive, I suggest https://jobs.wordpress.net

But remember: Not even the theme dev is obligated to make this an option. The dev decided to make the theme responsive and that it shall be. They’re allowed to decline to make more options for their work ??

It’s not good advice, but it seems to be the only advice that does what you want.

    Please see my post above.

Another option is that you find a nice looking HTML/CSS mobile theme. Something similar to the design of the main site and just make a simple mobile site with the most important info that the site owner would need for a mobile experience for the end user.

You can install that mobile theme on a sub-domoain for the client something like mobile.domain.com or in a folder like so domain.com/mobile

    Then use this plugin:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-mobile-url-redirect/

That plugin will redirect mobile users to the HTML/MOBILE version of the site. You just need to enter in the url of the mobile site that you’ve created and uploaded. Easy peasy.

That’s the only thing I can think of unless you are willing to take some of the other advice in this thread and 1.) Buy another theme with a responsive layout that you like or 2.) Tackle customizing the theme to meet your needs or 3.) Create a child theme and code what you want.

I’ve used this method before for clients that didn’t have a mobile site and didn’t want to change their existing WordPress theme.

I hope this helps and could be a solution for you. Let me know if you need any clarification.
