• I am a 25+ year web developer with over 10 years’ experience in WordPress. And still: Gutenberg is confusing, non-intuitive, and frustrating.

And if I can’t figure it out, I am NOT inflicting it on my clients.

It seems WP wanted to make editing easier and allow developers to create functionality within the posts. I get that. But this really has failed. There is no way to easily just WRITE AN ARTICLE, and HAVE TEXT WRAP AROUND AN IMAGE.

My recommendation: install CLASSIC EDITOR and be done with it. The 2-star AVERAGE rating for Gutenberg should give you a clue: this stinks.

Somewhere around the ‘net there is a list of “Things that should be in WordPress Core but aren’t…” The editor was not one of them!!!

Firstly I wanted to share a plugin may help you have time to move over your clients. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/classic-editor/ allows you to turn off Gutenberg and could be a great way for you to gradually move over those that it makes sense to.

Secondly, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Can I ask what specifically you feel isn’t going to work for your clients regarding Gutenberg? What can for example be done to make that move easier?

I have one client in particular who is a local news source – they will not have time to learn a new platform, as they’re publishing many stories per hour. It’s not easier, it’s frustrating. I know they’ll stick to classic editor where they can just type and drag in an image. They won’t want to deal with “blocks.”

It’s like people who go to WIX or Weebly because it promises them an EASY WAY to create your website and then they call me because they can’t figure it out, get frustrated, or it looks terrible. That’s going to happen – x200 for all my clients.

I feel you’re adding an entire layer that’s not necessary.
