• Hi there.

This might be a stupid question. Sorry if it is.
I got a WordPress.com blog almost a year ago, and also a domain some months later, so my doubt is if I can move that blog to another host, or even if my domain account (which I didn’t get with WP but other host) works for it, in order to move use it with www.ads-software.com.

    Thank you very much.

  • You can point your domain at your wordpress.com site. Try asking on https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

Yes you can if you own the domain. All you need to do is get a webhost and point your domain over to the webhost. Then just export your data from WordPress.com into your installation on your new webhost.

There are guides on how to do that.

    Thank you both!

esmi: my domain name points to my blog in WP.com, maybe I didn’t explain myself correctly, my doubt was if I could move that blog to .org, to be able to work with a host (and the possibilities of WP.org) but without losing all the data and info I have in my current blog.

Snat: So I can export the data from my blog on WP.com to WP.org? I hope I understood right.

    Again, thanks a lot.

Assuming you have a registered domain

    1. Get a hosting account and ask them for the correct name server info
    2. Visit your domain registrar and point your domain’s name server to your host
    3. Wait for your domain to resolve properly (2 to 48 hours)
    4. Install WordPress at your domain (see Installing WordPress)
    5. At your wordpress.COM blog do Administration > Tools > Export
6 At your domain’s newly installed WordPress do Administration > Tools > Import->WordPress using file from step 5

Yeah, that’s exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you very much!
