I have blacklisted an ip rnge but yet he is trying to hack my site

    Hi

    I found someone from this ip address is trying to get inside my site: 220.227.234.129

    This guy tried to login by username “admin” which i have nowhere kept as my username.
    He tried over 10 or 20 times last week, and then i entered this ip range 220.227.234.*
    in blacklist

    Plugin’s blacklist is not working as this hacker is yet trying to attempt login in my site. I see yesterday this hacker attempted to login 8times to hack my site.

    Please guide , how to solve this.

    Hi, do you have any of the following enabled under Firewall rules?

    Completely Block Access To XMLRPC:
    Disable Pingback Functionality From XMLRPC:

    If you haven’t can you enable one of them.

    Have you also enabled any of the following under User Login -> Login Lockdown?

    Instantly Lockout Invalid Usernames
    Instantly Lockout Specific Usernames:

    If you haven’t can you enable one of them.

    Then monitor and report back.

    So there is a section where i can manually enter the ipaddress or iprange to blacklist. This function do not work in default without the other options like you stated are not active>?

    these above options are already enabled in mine.. i also inserted today in box “admin” is specific username if entered, lockdown

    but still the guy able to attempt to login

    but i am worried, how my secret work instead of wp-admin, whatever i use, this hacker is able to get?
