I have installed msql and wordpress but now what?

  • Hi,

    my new host just added mysql and I added wordpress using the one step installer.

    The host provided NO information whatsoever other than saying that mysql had been installed.

    I’ve got as far as naming a database, and adding a user name and password but I have no idea what to do next.

    I have my own domain and would like to load WordPress in my browser so that I can import an exported file from wordpress.com

    I have tried things similar to

    https://payoffdebts.110mb.com/wp-login.php

    and

    https://pay-off-debts.org/wp-login.php

    but no cigar ??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    This is your install page
    one of the db values in wp-config.php is wrong
    at 110mb.com the servrer is not “localhost”
    log in at 110.mb.com – scroll to “mysql” and click on it
    should show all of your db values

    What Do I Put for Database Server Hostname / DSN:(localhost) any help???

    “localhost” But please use search next time. This has been answered many times.

    Terrible that no instructions came with their email that said ‘mysql has been installed’.

    A five minute operation is becoming a five day one ??

    When it says database name, do you think it wants for example ..

    no – dsn is different

    from knowledge base at 110mb.com

    1) yoursubdomain_databasename (payoffdebts_dbnameyoucreated)
    2) yoursubdomain_databaseuser (payoffdebts_useryoucreated)
    3) Same password as you specified at time of creating your MySQL database.
    4) they don’t list this but say it’s available by clicking the “mysql” icon in your control panel – could be localhost but wasn’t in past when I did some installs there

    Problem solved but 110mb need to supply a roadmap when they sell services.

    They are using ‘local host’.

    The set up is easy when you know what you have to do, but you have to know about the config file. It’s not something that you intuitively know even if you’r computer savvy.
