For single installs of WordPress, use the methods described in this article: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/changing-the-site-url/#changing-the-url-directly-in-the-database

BACKUP: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups! See https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/wordpress-backups/

I thank you very much but I am out of my depth here. I am not even sure that I am at fault reading all of the things that can cause redirects. I need something simpler please?

I find myself quite despairing! If I cannot solve this easily I will have to quit wordpress. There isn’t any way that I can see of getting to the back of the site to check the addresses. What on earth does on do? I am an old man and not versed in computer code. I can’t afford the money companies ask for correcting such problems as mine. My site is a hobby not a money making concern.

    Please can anyone advise me?

    Thank so much in advance.

    Hi Mike,

I understand it can be overwhelming, but the steps are very simple to follow. If you are not confident enough to make the changes to the database, but you know how to edit files on your hosting, then you can follow “Edit wp-config.php” method.

You can also reach out to your hosting. You are hosted on IONOS and maybe on their managed WP hosting plan. In any case, you should definitely try to reach them, and ask them for help.
