• I am trying to move my .com blog to .org and I’ve pulled it all off according to the instructions, hosting at dreamhost.com but then when I go to import my previous website, it tells me there is no import available.

Also, I don’t have the option to add new plugins.

    ?

the picture is of my www.ads-software.com login

my wordpress.com login does not have an option for plugins at all and has all the content that I want to send over to the www.ads-software.com site

I don’t know what the name servers are, so maybe I didn’t do that.

If only we can see your url we can find out your name servers as to me it looks like you logging in wordpress.com rather then your self hosted www.ads-software.com

    my URL is taylorstorey.com

you can see my other website at taylorstorey.wordpress.com

I have different login names for each of them, I can’t login to wordpress.com with my www.ads-software.com info, and vice versa.

That’s correct. The two sites have absolutely no direct relationship with one another.

so, what’s wrong with my www.ads-software.com site, that I can’t get new plugins?

    I am hosting on dreamhost.com

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

I am trying to move my WordPress.com blog to DreamHost using the WordPress app as well, and I also do not see “No importers are available” under the Tools/Import area. This was all supposed to be “1-Click”…even recommended by WordPress. HA!

I am having the same problem – no search, download nor install plugin option…also hosted through the free dreamhost apps provider.
I believe the issue is not from the fact that it is free since I believe the plugins are a built-in option within WP… any idea what the issue could be… I still have the default theme as I can’t import my xml file yet (need to download the importer plugin first)

Since it is free they must have restricted some features so check with dreamhost.
