Hi all, VaultPress is telling me I have no backup Protection when in fact I do. Specifically, it’s written as “VaultPress Backup: Your site is not backed up”

My first two backup or through my web host in the form of daily files and database backup. My second backup is through my web host in term of daily server backup

My third backup is through weekly cPanel backup for the entire site.

Do I really need VaultPress Backup? What am I missing?

    Ron

HI Stef, I’m just asking a question. Why do I need to post my site url? What would you be looking for?

    Hey there, @stemsrus,

My apologies – I misinterpreted your message and I (wrongly) got that you had also the Jetpack VaultPress backup active, but the system wasn’t confirming that! the site URL would have helped me understand what was going on.

Circling back to your initial (now more clear to me!) question: it seems that all your backups are hanlded by your hosting provider, which is great – you have three different places and types of backup to access in case you need to restore your site.

The only downside of this system is that in the very unfortunate case you can’t access anything server related (sever hack, hosting provider expiration, host issues, etc) you won’t be able to access to such files, unless you download them to a HDD or your desktop on a regular basis.

In this case, our backups can come in handy, as they are stored in our servers, meaning that you will be able to access them even if you can’t access your host and servers.

While this is unlikely, we had cases where backups outside the host and server environment have been crucial to recovering a site. It’s ultimately up to you to consider having a different environment where your backups are stored. You should be all set with your current setup, though there’s always that 1% of risk you are the only one able to assess ??

Hope that answers your question! I tried to be as much honest as possible with you. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
